Student Ruonan Hu at the Academy of Art University was tasked with designing promotional materials for a type foundry that had released a new typeface. For the project, titled “Discovering Greatness,”(above) they needed to create a promotion that included a type specimen that was engaging. They approached the design by trying to appeal to graphic designers and typographers in that the project was centered around the typeface; showing its proper usage and explaining its appeal.
Student Fangzhao Zhou under the instruction of Professor Olga Mezhibovskaya designed a book design for the sophomore year typography class at the School of Visual Arts. Titled, “GRID,” Zhou showcases a variety of typefaces in different geometrical designs throughout the book, showing the beauty of typography.
