Spanish Designer Xosé Teiga Shares His Biggest Challenge, Featured in Graphis Journal #361

Xosé Teiga had no idea he was a graphic designer. It wasn’t until one of his high school teachers recognized his talent and told him he was a designer, that he realized what path he wanted to embark on. Now he has a well-established branding and advertising design agency in Spain: Xosé Teiga Studio, which became one of the most awarded independent agencies in the country.

He is a creative director focused on visual communications and has won several awards in our Graphis competitions including Platinum in the Advertising Annual 2019 for his above self-promotion, “Merry Christmas,” during the holiday season. We present this image and more of his award-winning work in his feature article in Journal issue #361.

Shown above is his “Bela Fisterra Poster” (left) that won Gold in the Design Annual 2020, and his “Mar de Terra” (right) that won Silver in the Poster Annual 2020. All of which are featured among his highlighted work in the Journal

He shared some of his philosophies on success in his Q&A. He relates that getting out of his comfort zone, and doing research into all aspects of his design process, is the only way to achieve excellence.

Xosé Teiga also described how his biggest challenge was deciding to establish his own agency with zero human resources other than himself, working 17 hours a day with no other tools besides a table and a laptop. He’s shown how much hard work, ambition, and a clear goal can accomplish.
