Poster: Fons Hickmann, Selman Design & more from around the world

The above poster (left) won a Platinum Award in Poster Annual 2015. Entered by Fons Hickmann and Bjoern Wolf of Berlin, Germany, the poster combines traditional artwork with a colorful flair in order to promote their client, Semper Opera.

Fons Hickmann m23 focuses on the design of complex communication systems and is working mainly in the cultural field, ranking among today’s most awarded design studios worldwide.

The poster on the right is an entry to our latest Poster Annual 2019 competition and was submitted by Selman Design in New York. Designed for The Dumbo Improvement District, the poster’s purpose was to promote the “Great Dumbo Drop, [which] is billed as a block party event featuring thousands of toy elephants attached to parachutes dropping onto Washington Street in Brooklyn’s iconic DUMBO neighborhood.”

Selman Design is “a team of designers and producers who work with a wide range of clients to create comprehensive identity systems, develop brand strategies, and design packaging, exhibits, experiences, books, websites, commercials, advertisements, and applications.

A new entry to our 2019 competition, the orange poster above was entered by Karrie Gurnow of The Truth Collective. “Their team had a mandate to be bold in our thematic concepting. The direct mailer that followed was giant in its own right: a color-rich foldout poster featuring our three behemoths alongside event information and an inspiring invitation to attend.” The poster beside it is also in our latest competition and was entered by Designer Daniel Guillermo Rodriguez of Brooklyn, NY. “Faces of Democracy is an ongoing personal project in reaction to the current political happenings.”

The Poster Annual 2019 competition deadline has been extended! Enter your work before Tuesday, February 27, 2018.
