Nudes: New Entries by Howard Rosenberg, P.J. Fugatze & Rosanne Olson

New entries to the Nudes 5 Competition transform photography into fine art.

As the Nudes 5 Competition approaches, we are receiving wonderful new entries every day. In many of the shots, photographers played with lighting to create sculptural forms. For example, in an untitled work (ABOVE, LEFT) by Howard Rosenberg, the cool tone of the girl’s skin sits in opposition to the striking red jacket upon her head. In P.J. Fugatze‘s entry, “Body Sculpture Study #86,” (ABOVE, RIGHT) both the lighting and the poses create a tableau that appears as chiseled marble and metal. As he mentions in his approach commentary, Fugatze was inspired by Giambologna and Auguste Rodin.
In “Man in Stars and Stripes” (ABOVE), Rosanne Olson creates a dichotomy. The man’s stance on the boulder, draped in the American flag is certainly representative of strength, while his downcast eyes within the sepia tone image bring melancholy to this piece of art.
