These talented students were featured in New Talent 2019 for their useful and imaginative designs.
Looking at the results of the New Talent 2019 competition, it is evident that these students worked tirelessly under the direction of their professors to create great designs. One such design was Platinum-winner, “Conversation Table” (ABOVE) by Portfolio Center student Danner Washburn under the direction of Professor Devan Carter. With colorful cords intermeshing under a glass top, Devan related to us that the idea of this table was for it to be “representative of person-to-person communication” with a “visually-shifting form and vibrant colors, serv[ing] to reclaim and reorient meal-time toward conversation and, ultimately, a more wholesome experience of community.” His entry was truly a great design, created with a thoughtful intention.
