German graphic designer Uwe Loesch, whose work has been featured in the pages of Graphis multiple times, opened a retrospective of his life’s work this month at the Deutsches Plakat Museum. The “German Poster Museum” recently became a part of the new Museum Folkwang in Essen, Germany.

Loesch said the exhibition features many of his best-known posters, and some large-sized billboards from the last 40 years.

Uwe Loesch was born in Dresden, Germany, but has lived in Dusseldorf since 1958, where he studied design at Fachhochschule Düsseldorf University. Since graduating, he has worked as a freelance graphic artist and lyricist, producing work for publishers, as well as social and cultural institutions across the globe.

Among his clients are numerous museums, festivals, fairs, exhibitions, and even a political cabaret. He has created numerous posters as a part of his campaigns, and has participated in over 100 exhibitions around the world.
