Inside MOCEAN’s Winning Designs for Netflix and Amazon Studios

By: MOCEAN

In a collaborative effort between Netflix and visionary filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, the “Cabinet of Curiosities” project emerges as a visual and narrative masterpiece, marking the debut season of this thrilling venture into the horror genre. Born from a shared desire to push the boundaries of storytelling, this season one launch campaign showcases the imaginative creativity of Nathaniel Wheeler at its core.

The purpose of the teaser poster is clear: to generate buzz and intrigue, captivating audiences and drawing them into the world of wonder and mystery that awaits. The art carefully crafted to capture the intricate details of the cabinet pieces, sets the stage for the chilling journey.

Shot in a special shoot, the objects featured in the teaser art are brought to life in a stylized symmetric poster, reflecting Nathaniel’s artistic vision and attention to detail. This teaser serves as the gateway to the campaign, which unfolds with eight distinct episodic posters, each representing a different story within the horror anthology.

Where science fiction and Western genres collide, emerges “Outer Range”, an Amazon Studios original series that promises a thrilling adventure across uncharted territories.

The creative challenge was twofold; not only did we need to create a campaign to set the tone for season one, but we were also tasked to design a custom-stylized title treatment that would become the visual signature of the series. And it all had to be done within a month of its launch!

Behind the captivating key art campaign lies the creative minds of Robert Dunbar and Kishan Muthucumaru. Together, they breathe life into the posters, infusing it with a unique blend of classic Western grit and futuristic intrigue.

The key art serves as the portal to the enigmatic world of “Outer Range.” A landscape bathed in hues of otherworldly twilight, where mystery and the Wild West come together. The posters hint at the adventures that await, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats, craving more. The neon sign-inspired logo has a distinct identity with its intricate details and carefully chosen elements that capture the essence of the show’s narrative.
