Photo: Gold Work by Christopher Wilson and Silver Work by James Exley in Photography Annual 2019

Photography Annual 2019 brought forth a myriad of inspiring images, by Graphis Masters and newcomers alike. One exciting Gold-winning entry, “Language is Speechless” (ABOVE) by Graphis Master Christopher Wilson captured The Maritimes in Canada, which has the largest tidal shifts in the world. The figure in the photo peers down as darkness surrounds him. The shot is well-balanced and maintains a specificly ominous mood.

Another creative entry came from Photographer James Exley who won Silver for “Granite Chief Album Art” (ABOVE). When asked to create the album art for Granite Chief, Exley was clear on how he wanted to approach the commission. He shared with us, “I wanted to create a cover image that would pop graphically (framing, lighting, color, etc.), while also paying homage to his love of street fashion and classic American automobiles.” His visions seemed to come to fruition, giving the recording artist quite a wonderful image to work with.
