New Talent Annual Spotlight Submission:
Professor Louise Fili, Student Lynne Yun

From Concept to Action

The retail market is ever changing. Today, it’s more than being the biggest, cheapest and newest; It’s about establishing yourself as a cut above the rest. Lynne Yun’s branding of Vercesi Hardware, a hardware store located in New York City, is a prime example of design that distinguishes a brand.

A student at the School of Visual Arts, Lynne Yun worked under the direction of professor, Louise Fili to bring an otherwise mundane hardware store to life, through a series of historic, western-based typeface and logo images.

The work has been submitted to our upcoming New Talent Annual 2014.

Professor Fili has designed nearly 2000 book jackets within the 11 years she worked as art directer for Pantheon Books. She has since founded Louise Fili Ltd., which specializes in logo, restaurant, package and, or course, book design. Fili has taught graphic design, among other things, for a number of years, and was inducted into the Art Directors Hall of Fame in 2004.
