Graphis Master Mark Laita Exemplifies the Beauty of Movement in a Still Image

Mark Laita has been a master of photography for over twenty years. Among his plethora of work are clean-cut shots of animals, people, and still life. His award-winning photography has been featured in professional campaigns for businesses including Apple, BMW, Adidas, and more.

One of the most impressive aspects of his work is his ability to capture intense movement in a still image, such as in his photo “Cockfight 1” (above right). The flurry of feathers pulls the viewer’s attention towards the clash of colors, making the roosters in the image almost disappear. Another work, “Palawan Peacock-Pheasant” (above left), is shot with a similar effect. Laita displays striking colors against a black background, presenting one of his signature styles.

Aside from his compelling work with color, Laita has proven his skill utilizing grayscale as well. Entitled “Flower/Jamie” (above), he displays a human form imitating nature.

Laita’s work has been featured in galleries across the U.S and Europe. His effective use of color and movement has won him multiple Gold and Silver Graphis Awards for photography. His expertise in capturing natural beauty has made him one of the most sought-after photographers for his craft.
