‘Beginning,’ Toyotsugo Itoh ‘Graduation Exhibition 2011‘ Toyotsugo Itoh
Japanese Designer Toyotsugo Itoh – Beginning
Toyotsugo Itoh fuses the personability of traditional Japanese art with the refreshing originality of contemporary design. The smooth, flowing lines of Toyotsugu’s “Beginning,” suggest the movement of water through human forms. The environmental poster, part of the “Move One” exhibit, was submitted to this year’s Poster Annual 2015.
Itoh comes from a tradition of great Japanese designers, many of whom are consistent Graphis winners. Takahiro Shima has also submitted to this year’s Poster Annual 2015. Represented in the Poster Annual 2014 are Platinum winner Mitsuo Katsui, Gold winner AN Kiyoung and Platinum winner Tetsuro Minorikawa. Additional Japanese designers include Singo Fujiwaki, a Gold winner in the Poster Annual 2013, Yasuhiko Kida, a Gold winner in our Poster 2012 and Takashi Akiyama, a winner in the past three poster annuals. Graphis Magazine Issue 102 presents Marsaru Katsumi’s words on young Japanese designers. Poster Annual 2007 features an interview with famed Japanese designer Shin Matsunaga.
