The GraphisPhotography Annual 2020 has featured many award-winning works such as “Above & Beyond Series 1” by Graphis Master Howard Schatz, and “Jaguar Views” by David Westphal, both from the United States.
Photographer Howard Schatz submitted his series, “Above & Beyond,” which is a series of photographs and interviews of influential figures in the arts. The photoshoots allow for personality to be shown through the images, along with meticulous details in their poses that are personal and intriguing, giving us rich context and concepts for his stunning shots.
Schatz’s subjects include designer Philippe Starck (above), type designer Mathew Carter, tennis legend Billie Jean King, journalist and author Micheal Pollan, and New Yorker staff writer Adam Gopnik. Howard Schatz is a multi-Gold winner in our photography annuals.
“Jaguar Views” by David Westphal is another Gold-award winning entry in the Photo 2020. His promotion photo has a simplistic two-point perspective effect. The work is minimalistic, as most car advertisements are, with a majority of the focus on the car, landscapes, and the people using the product. The objects are within their own planes, such as the car driving on the side of the building.
Westphal has done many kinds of landscape photography and has also done work for clients such as Subaru, Ford, and Toyota. Several of his other entries to the 2020 competition also won Gold and Silver.
Congratulations to these winners! Take the opportunity and submit to the Photography Annual 2021!
