The Savannah College of Art and Design, otherwise known as SCAD, is among the top art and design schools in the country, offering a long list of undergraduate and graduate degree programs that appeal to all students pursuing a creative career. SCAD schools include the School of Communication Arts, the School of Digital Media, the School of Building Arts, the School of Liberal Arts, the School of Design, the School of Entertainment Arts, the School of Foundation Studies, the School of Fine Arts and the School of Fashion.
Every year, hundreds of people, including international media such as The New York Times and Women’s Wear Daily, visit SCAD’s annual fashion show. The show features a select collection of undergraduate and graduate work. At the most recent fashion show, on May 18, 2013, John McKinnon had the opportunity to photograph the production.
Photographer John McKinnon is proficient in the areas of commercial and digital photography. In addition to working for SCAD, McKinnon enjoys taking photographs of his sons, ocean waves and found objects. The piece above captures an elegant moment on the walkway, a rather impressive set recalling German Expressionism and the Lion King and created by SCAD alum Will Penny and motion media professor James Gladman using 2D and 3D projection mapping. While we’re not sure what’s actually going on, we’re ecstatic that McKinnon submitted it to our upcoming Photography Annual 2014 competition.
The competition features the most compelling and influential photography of the year. Prizes consist of gold and platinum awards, with winning entries published in the Photography Annual 2014.
