As we approach the final deadline to submit to the Nudes 5 competition, we are still receiving many wonderfully inspiring new entries. Photographer Robert Hopkins submitted “The Overcoat” (ABOVE) along with thoughts on his approach to the project: “The overcoat, the last of the Marine uniforms I dragged around for many years after ending my attempt at a military career, resonated with me as a subtle prop for a series of images to build into my portfolio.” He also explains that he was looking to explore “the intersection between fashion photography and fine art nude photography.” The result was quite striking.
Another new entry, “untitled” (ABOVE, LEFT) was submitted by Photographer Howard Rosenberg, and is quite inventive and provocative with it’s use of costuming. “Iris with Bricks” (ABOVE, RIGHT) was submitted by Photographer Patrick Tregenza. In his credits and commentary he explains, “I had 2 4×5 view cameras set up on two different backgrounds and double exposed one sheet of Type 55 Polaroid film. I then contact printed the negative.” The finished product is unique and evokes a vintage esthetic.
