Hermann Eggmann, renowned Graphic Designer and founding member of the Swiss Graphic Designers’ Federation, has died at age 84.
Hermann Eggmann passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016 after fighting an illness. A member of AGI since 1972 and an important representative of New Graphic Design, he and his wife, Anne Eggman, created various successful campaigns for the likes of the Kunstgewerbemuseum
(now the Museum für Gestaltung), Verkehrsbetriebe Zürich, the Formforum, Bank Leu, and the Federal Environmental Protection Agency, among numerous others. The pair also designed the magazine Du in the 1980s.
Eggman’s devotion to his work, consistent achievements, and timeless graphic designs will continue to live on long after his passing. Shortly before his passing, he wrote a text about his life, and ended with these words:
My body is now old, ill and tired.
Time to say goodbye…
Next time, please drink a toast to me and to life.
His obituary was written by Stephan Bundi, Designer and President of AGI Switzerland.
