Three new Photography 2021 entries from Graphis Master Joseph Saracenoand photographers Colin Douglas Gray, Ashley Camper, and Aman Shakya highlight aspects of fashion and design in the most abstract ways.
Canadian Graphis Master Saraceno aims to create an “olfactive” photo that provokes a sense of smell with its imagery. Nocturnal Creatures 1 (above, left) features an array of sensory objects such as perfume, flowers, and a statue figurehead arranged around an arching structure.
From the United States, Colin Douglas Gray and Ashley Camper bring us another bold abstract photography series with their showcase of the Chris Francis exhibition. Their series, aptly titled Chris Francis (above, right), highlights the design of the shoe featured in the Chris Francis collection. Each image sets a striking background that expertly compliments the sharp colors and intriguing geometric shapes of that make the designer shoes so unique.
Fencing (above) by United States photographer Aman Shakya captures the Savannah College for Art and Design fencing team from another abstract angle. Shakya took to the skies for this exciting photo of the athletes in action, dressed in their traditional white fencing gear that matches the bright white background of the studio. The unique angle of the action creates a dynamic image against a plain background that shows off the raw strength of its subjects.
It’s not too late to submit your own abstract and unique designs to our Photography Annual 2021. Enter your works by September 29th for a chance to be featured!
