Prolific photographers Marc Safran, Hậu Lê, and Klaus Klampertdemonstrate their humanistic sides with their sensually powerful works. The photograph from Marc Safran, entitled Nude Male Seated(ABOVE), showcases an earnest portraiture of extreme poise and beauty. As Safranputs it, “he was incredibly lithe, muscular and comfortable in my studio. What began as a shoot with his military attire ultimately moved to an unexpected beautiful figure study.”
In the above photo, German photographer Klaus Klampert invoked his own sense of deep modernist sensibilities with his work Untitled (LEFT), which uses soft lighting in a shadowed room to detail the vulnerable grace of the model.
Vietnamese artist Hậu Lê conjures anachronistic visuality in their work The Original Red(RIGHT), capturing “our moms’ youth and beauty [that] were lost for formal restricted clothes because of the society and families’ rules.” The red curtain, both invoking paradigms of restrictive communist rule and heart-thumping passion, plays a duality that is “based on common film tone” which was “the most common background for 1990s portrait photoshoot in Vietnam,” says Lê.
