The Photorealism of Graham Reynolds

Graham Reynolds 1

Although Graham Reynolds worked almost exclusively for the film industry in the 1980s, producing posters for movies like Indiana Jones, it was his photorealistic car illustrations that landed him in the pages of Graphis Magazine 284.

Car illustrations have always been Graham’s forte, and he has been hired by some of world’s largest carmakers (Ford, Mercedes, and Toyota) and oil companies (Shell, Texaco and Esso) to do so.

The images shown here are from a 1991 Ford calendar that demanded realistic images of Ford’s classic cars with iconic European monuments. It’s a project Reynolds said he “plunged into at the deep end.” The results are gorgeous. His superb technique and attention to detail make Reynolds one of the best photo realistic artists in the world. And Reynolds is working hard to make sure that never changes.

“My own aim is to keep moving with the times, ringing the changes and avoid being seen as old fashioned,” he said.
