Sandro and John Malkovich

Malkovich Sessions

Sandro directs Malkovich in a series of character portraits for an exhibition in Paris in 2014. Some of the portraits recall previous Malkovich roles in Dangerous Liaisons, Shadows and Fog, Shadow of the Vampire and the multitude of looks in Being John Malkovich, while others suggest he would provide a deeply weird Christ or Pope. Here’s the “Behind the Scenes” video of the photo shoot, touching on the crew at Sandro, Inc.:

Chicago-based photographer Sandro Miller has been represented in Graphis Photography Annuals for many years now. What he’s said about previous projects seems to apply here…

Prior to the shoot, I spoke with my hair and makeup artist and my stylist about the idea that I had been thinking about for some time. A big part of the my work is collaborative and working with the right people to get great pictures. ~ about Annick, 2012

The need for me to produce personal work is the driving force of my success in the commercial world. Without the personal work I’m just not who I am. In the commercial world, the importance of my personal work is very apparent and it shows throughout my commercial work. There is a very fine line between the work I do for myself and the work I do commercially. Commercially, I’m not for everyone. ~ about Joseph, 2011
