In the credits & commentary section of the New Talent Annual 2014, Miller described his work, which he created in the wake of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary:

The goal of my poster was to use a startling fact about gun violence in the U.S. I wanted the poster to be somber and non-partisan. I composed the poster on an old wooden table and took the photography exploring several different compositions before reaching the desired effect. The bullets are meant to be spilling off the poster. I used old metal type for the poster to give it a wild west feel because in many ways our gun control laws still relate to that time. The metal type also reflects the current trends in graphic design making the poster simultaneously historic yet contemporary.
