Poster: Fons Hickmann m23, Gunter Rambow & more from Germany

Fons Hickmann of Berlin, Germany submitted the above poster (left) to our current Poster Annual 2019 competition. It was designed for client Neubad Luzern  “for a performance by Leipzig-based band The Cloche, whose music alternates between high-powered beats and spherical sounds, blending electronic music and jazz.”

Fons Hickmann studied photography and communication design. He has taught at several universities, held lectures and workshops around the world and is a professor at Berlin University of the Arts. He is a member of the Art Directors Club, Type Directors Club New York and the Alliance Graphique Internationale.

The poster beside it (right) won a Gold Award in Poster Annual 2017 and was designed by Gunter Rambow of Guestrow, Germany. The colorful poster promotes an Opera by Leos Janacek.

Rambow studied glass painting at Staatliche Glasfachschule Hadamar and later graphics at HBK Kassel. He has served as a professor of graphic design and visual communication at Gesamthochschule Kassel, Tongji university, Shanghai, and HfG Karlsruhe, where he is emeritus professor. His philosophy on work is that “everything is important.”

The two posters above were also designed by Fons Hickmann m23. Raúl Kokott, Bjoern Wolf, and Fons Hickmann created the poster on their left for client Wiesbaden Biennal and won a Gold Award in Poster Annual 2018. Fons Hickmann, Bjoern Wolf, and Susann Stafanizen won a Gold Award in Poster Annual 2016 for the one on the right, created for Semper Opera Dresden.
