New Talent: Professor Peter Wong, Elizabeth Mandel & more from SCAD

Today’s New Talent entries are from the Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah, Georgia, US. Student Aaron Brown, under the direction of Professor Peter Wong, won a Gold Award in New Talent Annual 2013 for the design above (left). The mock client was Neue National Galerie, for which he redesigned the museum’s branding.

Directed by Professor Elizabeth Mandel, student George Prah designed the above poster (right) for mock client La Sape Magazine. His challenge was “to create a magazine and its brand with print and digital applications with some form of an underlying concept,” and his solution was “a quarterly publication that provides a refreshing alternative to the typical men’s lifestyle and fashion magazine.”

The typographic design above (left) won Silver in New Talent Annual 2015 and was designed by student Lillian Mueller under Professor Sohee Kwon. The assignment was to “create a poster that summed up a chosen theme explored for 10 weeks,” and the theme that Kwon chose was “small details in nature.” The poster beside it was also designed under Professor Sohee Kwon by student Youyang Li. It is a movie poster for “Life of Pi,” which “revolves around an Indian man named “Pi” Patel, telling a novelist about his life story, and how at 16 he survives a shipwreck in which his family dies.”

There isn’t much time left to submit to the New Talent Annual 2018 competition! The earlier your enter, the higher your chances of being featured on our website, blog, and social media platforms.
