Michael Pantuso was exposed to the art world at an early age. He recalls his father, also a graphic designer, painting an entire room — floors, walls, even a ping pong table — pastel green.
Executive Designer at IDEAS360º, a brand design agency, Mr. Pantuso’s portfolio includes such clients as Disney, Motorola, Merck to Deloitte, as well as Boeing and Bacardi. His award-winning work exemplifies his meticulous eye for detail and broad-ranging design style.
Mr. Pantuso approached the “Mechanical Integration Series,” a recent submission to the Graphis Design Annual 2015, “in such a way to be unencumbered by the influences of plans or pre-conceived outcomes,” he wrote in his Credits & Commentary for the entry. With minimal planning, preliminary sketches, or reference, he says he started with an idea “either inspired or imagined.” His agency work, of course, requires a much different, more organized and disciplined approach.
Mr. Pantuso used Adobe Illustrator CS6 to build each element of the series one at a time, then layered each accordingly. The final result remains unknown as there are no final versions.
Additional Illinois Designers that have contributed to Graphis include William Perez, Kaity Li,
Justin Ahrens, Tim Hartford, Brian Watterson, Rick Valicenti, Strom Strandell, Steve Czech, Christopher Lehmann, Robyn Paprocki, Alisa Wolfson, Kerri Liu, Kara Ayaram and Graphis Illustration Master Dan Cosgrove, among others.
The Graphis Design Competition features the most compelling and influential design of the year. Gold and Platinum awards, along with winning entries, will be published in the Design Annual 2015. To submit your work to the Design Annual 2016 competition, click here.
