Design: Exciting New Entries and Inspiring Previous Winners from Illustration Category

The illustration category is replete with unique, visually stunning designs.

Last year, we received exciting entries from Michael Pantuso Design for the Design Annual 2019 competition. Included was “EAGLE Mechanical Integration” (ABOVE, RIGHT) created for EagleRail Container Corporation for their new corporate headquarters in Chicago. The combination of lifelike animal features and mechanical structures has become a common thread for Pantuso and the results are fantastic. Some of his recent entries to the Design Annual 2020 competition come from his series entitled “Gulf of Mexico Series” (ABOVE, LEFT). This time, the art works were commissioned by a private collector in Chicago for a home in South Florida. We’re thrilled to be able to share this series and can’t wait to see more in the future!

Seung Min Han of South Korea is another design firm that has created a cohesive theme for their pieces. In “Positive Variation – A Delightful Tiger” (ABOVE, LEFT), elements from traditional Korean and Western materials are utilized and circular patterning is seen throughout the piece. In keeping with this approach, “Your Name – Peace with the Spring of Great Delight” (ABOVE, RIGHT) is an orb of detailed beauty. They related to us, “It [was] a collaboration illustration artwork for a ‘Poetry’ and ‘Visual Art’ exhibition which was being held at a ‘2017 Pyeongchang Poet festival’ event in Korea, China and Japan.” The thought and care that went into these series inspire us to look out for new design collections in Design Annual 2020!

Submit to the Design Annual 2020 competition by March 13, 2018. Winners will have the opportunity to see their work published on our website, blog, newsletter, and social media platforms!
