Angry Dog and Beacon Communications Connect With Japanese Culture in Their Gold-Winning Ads!

Brazilian ad agency, Angry Dog won Gold in the Graphis Advertising 2019 with their advertisement for the new launch of Nippon Bebidas’ Japanese food imports. Their entry, “Bottle Cap and Hashi Flag” (above), is a creative use of a red bottle cap and chopsticks (hashi in Japanese) that art director Rafael Fernandes used to recreate the Japanese flag.  Angry dog helped the Brazilian import brand branch out and reach a broader audience of consumers by not only importing Japanese drinks, but now Japanese food,

From Japan, Beacon Communications k.k makes strides in design on two different fronts: in product design, and in advertising. They won Gold in the Advertising 2017 with the above ad for “’TOMOSHI’ (Lamp Shades Made of Japanese Washi Paper) Poster” which is a line of unique shaped lamps inspired by traditional Japanese folding techniques. Beacon Communications captures the translucent beauty of the product by having them emit natural light. They show that a product poster doesn’t need to be in-your-face to make an impression.
